Character Information

Character Name: Dark Pit (aka Pittoo, Pitooey, etc… just don't call him that)
Character Series: Kid Icarus: Uprising

Character Age: 3, looks like a teenager, but is a copy of Pit who's probably about 25 or so.
Character Gender: Male.
Original Canon
Canon Point: Endgame.
Background Link: Here.
Personality:

Dark Pit is, first and foremost, a reflection of Pit. He's a copy, but he's a copy that went wrong. The Mirror of Truth is supposed to create an 'evil' copy of whoever/whatever looks into it that's bound to serve Medusa, but since Pit broke the mirror before the copy could really be completed, Dark Pit came out 'wrong' - aka not evil. He reflects Pit's dark side, but he's not an evil twin. Where Pit's personality is largely bubbly and happy, Dark Pit's is sarcastic and darker. He has absolutely no problem using cheap tricks to win, kicking people when they're down either verbally or physically (such as kicking a boss when it's distracted by Pit, or punching Pit when he's exhausted from fighting a boss).

This ability to think 'like a baddie' is helpful to him, considering that he thinks of the angles that aren't as honorable, which the good guys might miss. Not being on the side of good or evil lets him have the perspective to point out that it's both sides that are screwing up everything. While Hades is the one who's doing a ton of messing with the balance of life, the gods drag everyone into their fights, too.

He's very proud of his independence. He demeans Pit for working for the gods and being so loyal to them. He thinks that the only person he can rely on is himself, though he starts working with them against Hades later in the game. He hates the idea of being bound or compared to anyone, to the point where he accuses Pit himself of "copying his act" and refuses to follow the orders of Medusa, whom he was created to obey. While he knows that he's a copy, he doesn't like to admit it. His sense of right and wrong isn't based on some grand cosmic order, but what he himself feels, rather than loyalty to a side. He keeps his speeches short (unless he's doing a pre-boss speech with Pit) and says what he means. He doesn't care if people see him as a jerk - that's fine with him. That's not to say that he doesn't have a sense of humor - he does. It's just got a darker run of humor than his original's.

He does, however, care about his original (if only because without him he's literally nothing - unconscious or asleep or something unspecified). He doesn't take compliments well, to the point of jumping off a platform and forgetting that he can't fly when Pit thanks him for saving him. In moments of true panic, though, he does call out for Pit to help him, which shows that he does have at least some trust in him.

Abilities:

Fourth wall destruction. No, but Dark Pit does reference other Nintendo titles in game, though not as much as some of the other characters. While he may not be aware that he's in a game, the fourth wall in Kid Icarus: Uprising is fragile at best and non-existent at worst.

As an angel (or a copy of one) Dark Pit is more or less immortal - he can be revived from K.O.s (though presumably he has help from Viridi during the time he's playable) and he ages very slowly. He's light on his feet and athletic, and can fight both up close and from long-range, depending on his currently equipped weapons. He does tend to favor long-range though, to the point of trying to snipe Pit from nearly across the map in one of the levels.

While not a real 'power', his soul is linked with Pit's. If anything happened to Pit's soul - like being sealed into a ring, which happened in canon - Dark Pit essentially becomes 'nothing'. He doesn't exist.

Dark Pit also has several powers equipped, but he can't swap them out due to lack of a Sanctuary in Animus. He'll also have to rest before using the powers again, as they're limited use.

Reflect Barrier: Create a barrier that reflects shots. 3 uses.
Mega Laser: Fire a massive laser. 2 uses.
Health Recovery: Recover a little health. 3 uses.
Effect Recovery: Dispel effects like poison or paralysis. 3 uses.
Burn Attack: Attacks inflict a burned status on a foe, which causes ongoing damage faster than poison. 2 uses.

He also has a few weapons with him, that have different abilities.

Silver Bow: A prototype bow designed by Palutena and the favored weapon of Dark Pit. Unlike most Bows, its projectiles are strongest at close ranges and lose power at long distances. However, its range and homing ability are above average, making it useful in any situation. It can split into two and be used as two short swords.

Dark Pit Staff: Its charged shots are optimized for long-range attacks and do four times as much damage at its longest range as it does up close. Its continuous fire is equally strong, but suffers from a short range.

EZ Cannon: The basic Cannon. It has a green blade at its side for close-ranged attacks. It fits over Dark Pit's arm. Its shots have a large area of effect, but are slow, and its melee capabilities are rather weak.

Violet Palm: The basic Palm. It harnesses rainbow-colored energy that can quickly follow enemies. It has a high fire rate, but low attack power and short range.
